OFFICE OF CRAFTS AND DESIGN
Normal Object Factory founded in 2017 by ceramicist Alexandra Nilasdotter and glass artist Chien-Kuang Liu as a shared exploration of what makes an object meaningful. In our practice, we explore the meeting of cultures through material, form, and craftsmanship, rooted in Swedish and Taiwanese design and craft history.
Based in a former porcelain factory in Gustavsberg outside Stockholm (Sweden), we are surrounded by a history of production that informs our thinking. We borrow the logic of repetition and optimisation from mass production, yet every piece remains shaped by our hands. This tension between the singular and the serial defines our work. Each object carries subtle variations that reflect the body and gesture of its maker, distinguishing it from anonymous industrial output while still allowing for structured, repeatable processes.
